On a spur-of-the-moment trip to Sweden, our co-founder Mark found that there was no internet access in a city he didn't know.
He quickly realized the lack of accessible, user-friendly resources available for travelers. Upon returning home, Mark teamed up with co-founder Michael Todd to create the first Grab'n'Go Guide for Savannah, Georgia.
Not only did it feature everything you needed to know about a city and what it offered, but it also had the convenience of folding up and fitting into your pocket.
It became the go-to printed map for local businesses and hotels. As the demand for these maps grew, clients began reaching out, wanting to create their custom designs on the unique pocket-sized template.
PocketMaps officially launched in 2011 and is dedicated to creating the most affordable printing and production options for pocket-sized print maps. Operating from multiple plants in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany allows us to produce our products quickly and meet the tightest deadlines. With worldwide shipping, our products are accessible to everyone.
Since then, we've made hundreds of millions of Pocket Maps and sent them all over North America, Europe, Australia, and Africa. We've worked with clients on order sizes ranging from 250 to over 1,000,000 pocket maps in a single order.

Design Co-Founder & CTO
Starting his education studying architecture at Texas A&M, Michael finished his degree at SCAD with a BFA in Visual Communications. These two experiences exposed him to a wide berth of inspirational design principles that he applies to design digital and print materials for PocketMaps. He lives in Atlanta and loves the Rockies, Apple, photography, and working as an entrepreneur.
Jorge Montero
Advisor / Mentor
Jorge has 42 years of experience as a graphic designer, illustrator, and educator. He earned his MFA from the University of Iowa and currently serves as a professor at SCAD, previously teaching throughout Europe, The United Kingdom, South America, and Africa.
Qian Sun
Graphic Designer & Illustrator
A New Yorker who originally hails from Shanghai, Qian Sun is a multidisciplinary designer and a self-proclaimed curious adventurer. For the past decade, her work in branding, environmental graphics, and conceptual design has earned her numerous accolades, including recognition in TDC, HOW Magazine, Graphis, and The Die Line. Before establishing herself as an independent consultant in 2016, Qian served as senior designer for Pentagram Design, collaborating directly with the firm’s partners and leading large-scale projects for clients such as Pepsi Co, the Hudson Yards, GSK, and many others.

Steve graduated from SCAD with an MFA in Graphic Design. With a focus on web design and development, he is now located in San Francisco and is the Senior Product Designer at WhatsApp.

John, a freelance photographer and photojournalist with more than twenty years of experience has contributed to many newspapers, trade journals, and books. He graduated with a BFA in Photography from SCAD.

Shawndra lives in Asheville as a freelance copywriter, live event expert, and social media strategist for small businesses. She graduated from Marshall University with a MA in English and recently published her fourth book.

For over five years, Kayla has been helping clients at PocketMaps tell their stories through design. With a BFA in Communication Design, she focuses on printed media and custom cartography design. She can understand a project's needs and offer innovative solutions.

Sara is a passionate designer, a detail-oriented art director, a casual runner, and a curious traveler. She is pursuing her M.A. in Graphic Design & Visual Experience from SCAD to build on her B.S. in Industrial Design from Georgia Tech. Sara has years of experience partnering with large and small clients in the workplace. She aims to create visuals encountered in everyday environments that impact people in extraordinary ways with each project.
